Rusty Guns has access to 2500 acres of agriculture and wooded land for bird hunting and dog training use with 100 acres of additional land converted back to wetlands, which will include nature trails and observation points for wildlife of all kinds. We will have ten 30-40 acre blocks of land with at least 8 different styles of habitat, from wide open fields, to thin or thick woods, from flat lands to steep and rolling hills. I started Rusty Guns in the fall of 2003 when a close friend and fellow soldier asked me to train his young English Pointer puppy while he was deployed. But the seedlings for the company actually started  long before that when a much younger me was first introduced to Tony Wooley, founder of Cow Run Farms, and hunted with him over perfectly trained and well-conditioned German Shorthair pointers. Although I have hunted since I was 10 years old and used dogs to assist with retrieving, I had never had the pleasure of working with truly fine dogs in the field. Tony quickly took pity on me, and we became close friends. During the next 10 years, he bestowed much of his training wisdom and dog philosophy upon me; and I eagerly learned and helped him when he needed it. Tony sadly passed away a few years ago, and that brings me back to the beginning of this paragraph. I could think of no better way to honor him but to train and raise quality bird dogs and help people to enjoy the benefits of a hunting companion. Since the inception of RGK I have many influences and assistance in getting to where we are. John Prince of Princes Quality Shorthairs, James Farrar of Anderson Creek Hunting Preserve, Fred Rice of Sundance Kennels and a few others. I promise to give each and every dog that visits us for training the upmost respect and attention it deserves and you personally will have a memorable experience or your money back!  Not many people will do this because they can’t ensure or guarantee their work or their ability to provide you service.. We do!
